Symonds Yat Lodge has an idyllic setting in the heart of the Wye Valley where the River Wye cuts a swathe through a wooded gorge on the edge of the spectacular Royal Forest of Dean. Standing exclusively in grounds of almost 5 acres it has terraced gardens of magnolia trees and wisteria. The Lodge was originally built in 1876 as a Royal hunting lodge, was converted to a hotel in the 1920's and is now available as a stunning self catering house for friends and family – and it's just perfect for business groups seeking peace and quiet. Oh and did we say you can get married there? Well you can. Within a very short walk there are three excellent pubs, 2 restaurants, and best of all a romantic river ferry for beautiful circular walks. Indoors there's the lounge, bar, games room and party room. Outdoors you can hike, canoe, swim, climb, cave, walk, and when the visitors go home of an evening you have the village to yourselves. Sit on the Terrace, enjoy a drink in the company of those you love (not forgetting your furry friends of course) while watching the river below.
